Mother Meera is an embodiment of the Divine Feminine, the Divine Mother on earth. Mother was born in 1960, in the state of Andhra Pradesh, southern India. Today, she lives in a small village in the German countryside. Here, and during her travels around the globe, she gives her unique blessing of Darshan. The free transmission of Light, Love and Grace is Mother’s gift to the world.
Mother came to prepare and cleanse world consciousness and make it ready for transformation to a higher level of evolution. To ensure this development She calls down the Light of the Supreme consciousness. In her work of Darshan she prepares humanity to become open to the Light, so that the Divine Life and Will can become manifested on earth.

The Darshan event with Mother Meera follows a precise structure, original to her work and exactly suited to allow the transmission of the Light she brings down upon the earth. For a little moment, while she touches our temples, she is working on something that might be described as the ‘wiring’ of the soul. In her book, Answers, she describes an inner system of subtle energy in the human body that reaches from head to toe. By the process of incarnation and the entanglement of body and mind with worldly influences these subtle channels of energy can become knotted or blocked. During Pranam (‘bowing down’) Mother very delicately works on these knots, gently freeing-up the blocks preventing spiritual development. This process has to do with the soul and its unfolding and Mother Meera says that only Divine personalities can do such work.
When Mother releases our heads we sit back and she looks into our eyes. This is Darshan (‘seeing’, here ‘seeing the Divine’). During Darshan, Mother is working on our ‘personalities’, the everyday body/mind. She searches for areas in our being where her Light is specially needed, giving us energy, purification and inner healing– whatever is required for the mental, emotional and physical aspects of our being to live in harmony.
Mother’s poise and quiet demeanor sets the atmosphere of the encounter quite naturally, so the group present at Darshan is always contained and self-reflective, in harmony with Mother’s silent field of force.
I am looking at everything within you to see where I can help, where I can give healing and power. At the same time, I am giving Light to every part of your being, I am opening every part of yourself to Light. ~ Mother Meera (more quotes >>)
The notion of God as Mother may be unusual in the West, but in the East it is an age-old way to regard and relate to the Divine – especially in India, where God is conceived as being both with and without form. God is known as both transcendent and immanent, being above and beyond everything but also radically free to manifest eternally within all the myriad forms of the whole of Creation. One of the sweetest and nearest forms that God assumes to reach out to us is that of the Holy Mother, of whom Mother Meera is a living embodiment. The Divine Mother represents the dynamic aspect of the Godhead, transmitting God’s Will, Mercy and Grace. She manifests not only as the ideal feminine aspect of the Divine with whom we can connect through worship, prayer and meditation, but also and most astoundingly as fully human beings, living women among us who are visitations of the Divine. The descent of a deity to the earth in an incarnate form is known as an ‘Avatar’. (Sanskrit: lit. ‘coming down’, ‘descent’)
Mother Meera does not conform to the conventional model of a Guru surrounded by disciples. She is the ultimate Mother, always ready for anyone needing her help or blessing, entirely loving, caring and non-judgmental. She gives no formal teaching or complex spiritual disciplines and she makes no demands. As a living embodiment of the Divine Mother she can transform any aspirant simply by a look.
As Mother, she accepts everybody to her Darshan, not to instruct or to impose techniques of enlightenment but simply to give whatever is required and appropriate for each individual. Through her own Divine radiance she bestows a Light that helps and guides us – no matter what religion or spiritual path we may be following.
The realized is like a child at peace in the womb of the Mother, knowing he is sustained at every moment by the grace and Light of the Divine Mother. ~ Mother Meera (more quotes >>)
Mother Meera brings a new Light into the world. This is what she was born to do and the transmission of this Light to human beings is what she calls her ‘work’, her job. Mother makes no claim to be the only bringer of this Light, for other Divine entities are always helping. Nor does she claim to be the only Avatar present on earth – indeed, there are several Avatars here at this moment, some in the public gaze and others who choose to work unrecognized.
As Mother has said, every Avatar, every divine entity, impelled by Love and Compassion to take on a human body, brings with them a new Light – and these Lights always change the course of human history. Matter itself is not self-evolving, for at the heart of matter there is the Divine and no growth can take place without the Spirit as primal mover.
When Mother was still very young, she privately told her mentor, Mr. Reddy, about a series of experiences in which she consciously rose to the highest levels of her inner being from where she intentionally brought down upon the Earth the consciousness of a new Light. She calls this Light the Paramatman Light. From the time she was born into the world she fully understood that this was the divine purpose of her incarnation as Avatar.
Paramatman means literally ‘Highest Self ‘or ‘the Self of the whole Universe’. Mother makes it clear that this Light is not really new, for it has always been there. Mother, as Avatar, is a primal force of evolution and by ‘bringing down the Light’ she means a particular activation of the inner Light that lies hidden in the depths of every human soul. Mother’s own divine Light acts as a catalyst that turns on our own inner Light, as if with a Divine switch, liberating it to shine into and illuminate all the levels of our being from the highest to the lowest. Mother’s presence, here on earth now, makes the flowering of this latent inner Light – that lives like a tender bud within us all – more possible and more likely than ever before in our planet’s history.
The Light contains all the Divine qualities: Love, Grace, Power, Bliss, Knowledge. . . Mother is simply telling us to allow ourselves to become open to it and receive its blessing. She Herself will help us perfect our power of reception and self-illumination. It is her promise, her Will, that she will help us become more and more transparent to Beauty, Power, Wisdom – all those Divine qualities that all of Nature yearns for. The more we open ourselves, the more we learn to allow the Light to shine through us, the more harmonious will be our individual lives and the whole of human life on Earth.
The Light has never been USED before. Like electricity, it is everywhere, but one must know how to activate it. ~ Mother Meera about the Paramatman Light (more quotes >>)
Mother Meera has said that it is good to meditate every day and that the best thing of all is to practise Japa – prayerful repetition of one of the names God. There are a multitude of techniques and they can be very complex as, for example, the visualizations of Hindu and Tibetan tantra. Nevertheless, most great Saints have agreed that the simple repetition of a Divine name is one of the most powerful practices. Mother is essentially practical and she recommends constant remembrance of God and Japa on the Divine name as the most effective method. What is essential is that the chosen Name should inspire you, so that it moves you inwardly with divine-seeking emotion.
Because Japa is easy to do and can be practised silently in the heart and mind, it can be done anywhere, throughout all our daily tasks. Mother explains that any object the mind dwells upon generates a certain vibration and so each of the syllables of the divine name, lovingly repeated, creates a particular quality of vibration that builds up to form a protective field of consciousness around us.
Japa is simple to incorporate into our sadhana (Sanskrit: lit. ‘system of spiritual practice’) even if we don’t have time for formal meditation. Mother’s yoga is one of balance that allows a seamless integration with daily life and ordinary activities. Everything offers an occasion to remember the Divine and aspire for Light: work, play, relationships – everything. This is the way of true surrender.
Mother cautions us that developing complex or extensive practices of meditation can actually strengthen the ego instead of reducing it, producing self-righteousness and pride and a life lived artificially in an ivory tower looking down upon others. In truth, the royal road to the heart and the deep-self is humility. Humility and heartfelt devotion are the easiest ways to God: as Lord Krishna says in the Bhagavad Gita: ‘a simple leaf or flower offered with true devotion goes straight to the heart of the Lord.’
In doing japa, one should not strain or try to achieve something specific. One should try to be sincere and to have love of God. ~ Mother Meera (more quotes >>)
Mother Meera is an embodiment of the Divine Feminine, the Divine Mother on Earth, a force of Love in action come to earth to prepare humanity’s consciousness for a great leap.
In many traditions of Eastern spirituality it is believed that in their innermost nature all beings are essentially at one, are one with the Supreme Divine creator– yet somehow most human beings remain unaware of this astounding knowledge. It is to lift this primary ‘veil of ignorance’ that Avatars come to earth as individuals with a clear awareness of the true reality and all its implications, and live amongst us with the ‘job’ of showing people the reality of their true nature and how to recognize it. Mother Meera is one such Avatar, enlightened from birth about her divine identity and the particular nature of her work. Mother does not claim to be the only Avatar currently working on earth for many are here now to fulfil the Divine work, some known, and some unknown.
As Mother has said, each Avatar or embodiment of the Divine comes to earth with a certain special Light, a new aspect of consciousness that he or she conveys into the earth’s atmosphere, helping humanity to develop and evolve. Mother’s presence, here now on Earth, brings with it a new quality of awareness, a spiritual force and Light that makes the transformation of the world more certain. Her transforming power is progressively allowing the Earth and its inhabitants to become more and more transparent to the Light of the Divine, bringing order and beauty in the progressive at-one-ment of God and humanity. Mother’s power is directed to helping and speeding-up the spiritual evolution of the whole of humanity on earth.
The Avatar comes from God and has the power and Light of God. The Avatar has a human body while God has no form and yet all forms. ~ Mother Meera (more quotes >>)
Mother Meera‘s advise is to maintain a balance between outer world and inner life and to cultivate harmony, which itself is a divine quality. Mother encourages work and independence as the way to right living, and the fulfillment of our domestic and social duties should be accepted as the best possible environment for our spiritual development.
Abandoning worldly duties to become a recluse or to take up life in an ashram is unnecessary and even counterproductive. An inner attitude of surrender together with the consecration, the ‘making holy’ of our ordinary life, is what is required. Our whole existence in the world can become an expression of the Divine harmony– as an instrument of the Divine, rather than driven by the ego.
‘Karma Yoga’ consists of doing every task appointed to you, great or small, as perfectly as you can and in a spirit of service to the Divine. (Sanskrit: Karma; lit. ‘action’. Yoga; lit. ‘union’, ‘union with the divine’)
Mother shows that offering everything to God is a wonderful way to lead life; it makes us at the same time both empty and open to the Divine power, enabling us to receive the Grace we need. By offering everything, good, bad and indifferent to the divine we loosen and diminish the compulsions and cravings of the ego and so make our work and life as perfect as possible – by not getting so much in the way of the Divine!
If you surrender to Him truly, it will no longer be you who does the work but God who does it through you. ~ Mother Meera (more quotes >>)
Mother Meera’s approach to health and wellbeing is manifestly practical. About diet, for instance, she says one should eat what is good for one’s body – whatever genuinely strengthens health. For example, some people actually need to eat meat to maintain their wellbeing, rather than trying to keep to a strictly vegetarian diet that may be considered to be more spiritual. In fact, she says, dietary preferences have little to do with spiritual progress.
One should care responsibly for one’s body, with common sense. Many people approach Mother for healing and she always advises a visit to the doctor as the first option to solve any problem, saying that her Light will help and support the healing process.
The greatest pain is ignorance. When the pain is clear, you can find its source and can change. ~ Mother Meera (more quotes >>)
Although Mother Meera has come to bring down a transcendent Light upon the earth as a whole, another part of her work is also to help individuals. She encourages everyone to pray directly to God (Paramatman) whenever one feels a strong connection – but in the same breath she says that if one doesn’t feel that connection one can also pray directly to her, or equally to other Teachers and Saints with whom one fees connected. All prayers go ultimately to God, like rivers to the ocean.
Another direct way of asking for help is simply to write to Mother.* We can always pray from our depths for what we need, but the act of writing to Mother is often helpful for the busy personality. It orders our thoughts about the problem and knowing we are making Mother directly aware of our needs brings a certain peace to our hearts. All the same, devotees often receive help or an inner answer straight away after posting the letter, even before Mother actually receives it.
Due to her increasingly busy schedule, Mother no longer receives phone calls for help as she did before. Instead, one can write to Mother and be assured of her help. We can also simply send a prayer to her, and ask for her help inwardly.
Mother says the important thing is to develop faith in God and build up an attitude of loving devotion. If we can just get into the habit of doing that, Mother assures us that the Divine will accept all our offerings, helping us, and the increasing momentum of our God-directed thoughts will bring about transformation.
If you need me or my help I will help you whatever path you may follow. For me there is no difference ~ Mother Meera (more quotes >>)
