Darshan: Overview
About Darshan - The word darshan is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘drish’ for ‘seeing’. In Hinduism it means seeing the Divine or a particular form of the Divine, or being in it’s presence. This can relate to a murti – a statue – in a temple, in which there is a divine presence, or to a holy mountain, or a holy person, or a divine master, or an avatar.
