Glossary - Mother Meera
Here are important terms and ideas from Mother Meera’s Q&A, plus their meanings:
Aspiration
A sincere inner movement toward the Divine. It may appear as longing, devotion, or a quiet upward movement of the heart. Comparable to aspects of Bhakti longing or Sri Aurobindo’s idea of aspiration, but expressed here in simple, universal language.
Atma (Soul)
The inner, eternal being within each person. It is the part that naturally seeks the Divine and responds to Light. In Mother Meera’s explanations, the soul guides the movement of aspiration and helps integrate the Light into daily life.
Avatar
A divine incarnation in human form, sent to Earth to help humanity spiritually.
Bhakti (Devotion)
Love for the Divine, expressed inwardly. It may be calm or emotionally intense, as in classical Bhakti traditions, but without required rituals. Devotion opens the heart to receive Light more fully.
Darshan
A silent meeting with Mother Meera, during which Divine Light is offered. It does not involve spoken teaching or ritual. The experience is individual and inward.
Divine Light
A subtle spiritual force that transforms the mind, heart, and life. The Light clarifies, strengthens, and helps the soul unfold. Darshan is the primary means for receiving this Light.
Divine Mother
The feminine, maternal aspect of God; Mother Meera is considered a personification of the Divine Mother.
Guru
Mother Meera does not identify as a guru in the traditional sense. She gives Darshan but does not create a guru–disciple structure, prescribe teachings, or require practices. The relationship is personal and inward.
Japa / Meditation
Silent repetition of a sacred name or mantra . It stabilizes the mind and deepens devotion. Mother Meera encourages simple, heartfelt practice .
Offering
Turning everything — thoughts, feelings, difficulties, actions — toward the Divine. Offering is a practical form of surrender and a way to open the being to Light.
Paramatman
The Supreme Self, or universal Divine. Mother Meera explains that the Divine Light descends from Paramatman to help guide and uplift the world.
Surrender
A state of openness in which one offers all aspects of life to the Divine. Surrender is not passive; it allows Light to act more freely within.
Transformation
The gradual change that occurs as Light works in the mind, emotions, body, and soul. Transformation is supported by aspiration, surrender, and devotion.
Goal of the Work
To help humanity receive Divine Light and to support spiritual evolution. The work is universal and does not require membership, initiation, or belief.
