Mother Meera on Jesus and Mother Mary

Jesus

What, specifically, did Jesus and Krishna bring to the Earth?
Mother Meera: Jesus symbolized sacrifice. Krishna brought love and peace and destroyed some of the asuras of the time. (*44)

Do Avatars know right from the beginning that they are divine, or do they come slowly into that realization? For example, wasn’t it only later in Jesus’ life that he understood his divine mission?
MM: Jesus knew from the beginning that he was the son of God. The changing experiences in an Avatar’s life have more to do with making it clear to the world who he or she is. (*44)

I believe in Jesus. Must I stop believing in him and believe in you?
MM: Whomever you believe in, believe with all your heart. All divine incarnations are equal. Be sincere, open, and my help will be given to you always. (*70)

I believe that Jesus Christ is not God, but he loves humanity. He is a lover of humanity.
MM: One judges according to one’s knowledge and experience. (**16)

Mother Mary

Christ is the son of God but many devote themselves to the Virgin Mary.
MM: Both are symbolic of Love and Action. Both are great. Greatness cannot be explained in words. (**16)

Is the Virgin Mary an Avatar?
MM: There is no doubt about it. (*45)

What aspects of the Divine Mother does she particularly express?
MM: She expresses compassion. (*45)

I feel that Jesus is greater than Mary.
MM: You can believe according to your faith, but both have different functions. They came for different purposes. We cannot judge that one is greater than the other. (**16)

Is Mary pre-eminent at this time?
MM: Divine is permanent at all times. (**16)

There is a great upsurge of interest in the Virgin throughout the Catholic Church. Can you say something about the purpose of her work?
MM: Mary has the quality of Motherhood; she is appearing to protect her children. (*45)

Is it really the Virgin who is appearing at Medjugorje, Yugoslavia?
MM: Yes, she is appearing in Medjugorje. (*45)

Will the Virgin or Jesus incarnate again?
MM: Because people find it difficult to believe that an embodied form could really be Jesus and Mary, they are coming as appearances such as that at Medjugorje.(*45)

Avatars

Although the Mother has always been present, it seems that now mankind in the West is becoming increasingly conscious of the Mother on a large scale.
MM: People have always worshipped both the Divine Mother and God. Ordinary people have always believed that the Virgin Mary, for instance, is divine even though only lately the Church has formally recognized this. The importance is to open to the Divine; whether it is the Shakti or God doesn’t matter. (*22)

In accepting embodiment, have you experienced much suffering and pain?
MM: Everyone suffers – the Divine, the human, even the evil forces – but at different levels. So many holy beings have suffered greatly. Christ was crucified; Aurobindo had bad trouble with his leg; Ramakrishna had throat cancer. For physical pain you can get medicine. For divine pain, what medicine is there? (*33)

Christ saved thieves and prostitutes. Does the Avatar have the power to change an extraordinary variety of people?
MM: Yes, the Avatar has the power to change anyone and alter any karma. (*156)

Would you explain the power of the name?
MM: Each syllable of a divine name – such as Krishna or Jesus – has vibrations which change the atmosphere. Any object that we think about repeatedly generates its own vibration. Even though mantras are strong and powerful, we may not feel the effects immediately but results will come. One can feel the differences in the vibrations of words. Using the word, one can make things change. (*91)

God is formless. But in order to love the Divine, isn’t it necessary to love one of the formed aspects of God – Krishna or Jesus, for example?
MM: One can love the Divine directly and also through gods, angels, and gurus. (*106)

Christianity

First I believed in Jesus. After some time I lost faith in him. I saw your photo in my friend’s house and I felt renewed faith. After many years with you I returned to my faith in Jesus but I still had faith in you. Now I have lost faith in you.
MM: It is a good thing that you returned to your faith in Jesus. That is important. It is not so important that you have lost faith in me. To regain faith in Jesus is important. Pray to Jesus and surrender to God. (**113/4)

What do you think of Christianity?
MM: The greatness of Christianity is to help humanity. (**114)

The Dalai Lama has written that we should especially respect our enemies for they teach us patience and forgiveness. Is this true?
MM: Jesus said this also and it is a great truth. It is easy to love your friends. When you find deep compassion in your heart for your enemies, you are really making progress and learning the power of love.(*106)
